What is Photovoltaic?

Solar panels are made up of several photovoltaic cells, often called "PV." Here is how PV cells work: "Sunlight is composed of photons, or particles of solar energy. These photons contain various amounts of energy corresponding to the different wavelengths of the solar spectrum.

When photons strike a PV cell, they may be reflected or absorbed, or they may pass right through. Only the absorbed photons generate electricity. When this happens, the energy of the photon is transferred to an electron in an atom of the cell (which is actually a semiconductor).

With its newfound energy, the electron is able to escape from its normal position associated with that atom to become part of the current in an electrical circuit. By leaving this position, the electron causes a "hole" to form. Special electrical properties of the PV cell—a built-in electric field—provide the voltage needed to drive the current through an external load.

Unlike many suppliers who will Hot Dip Tin the master coil and slit it down to finish width, Solar Wire dip the finish width of the flat wire strip into a 450C Molten Alloy bath and utilise the use of Hot Air to control the coating thickness throughout the production run. Our state of the art “Dancer” communicate with the PLC to control tensile from Start to Finish to minimise the chance of “Excessive Camber”


Our in House X-Ray coating thickness measurement system (Supplied by Oxford Instruments) enable us to perform coating thickness analysis and to make sure the customer is receiving production within the agree specification.


Our in House Tensile Strength measurement system (Supplied by Mecansile) enable us to perform Tensile strength analysis and to make sure the customer is receiving production within the agree specification.

 

Solar Wire Description: Dead Soft, HOT DIP TIN TINNED Copper Wire


Base Material: ETP Copper 99.9% by weight.


Base Thickness: 0.025mm to 0.50mm (Tolerance ± 10%)


Base Width: 1.5mm to 2.5mm (Tolerance ± 0.15mm)


Coating Alloy:

  1. SRS080 97%Sn3%Ag

  2. SRS081 100% SN

  3. SRS082 60%Sn 40%Pb

  4. SRS083 60%Sn37%Pb3%Ag


Alloy Coating Thickness: 25Microns ± 5 Microns (0.025mm ± 0.005mm)


Packaging: SolarWire is supplied on DIN 125 reels: Length 125mm; Width 125mm; Bore 16mm; Traverse 100mm; Barrel 80mm.


These reels are packed in carton boxes, which are placed in a secure wooden case to be used for transportation.
